Hand Reader Every person’s hand has a unique geometry based on size and shape. This is stored in a template in the reader’s memory.  When an individual enters an ID number and places a hand on the biometric hand reader, the person’s identity is verified and s/he is punched in/out. RFID Radio Frequency Identification Device – A microchip is embedded in an accessory such as a card, badge or key fob, which transmits unique information to a reader.  The results - punch in/out for Timecard Monitor or open/close for Door Monitor is the same as using a sensor.   Swipe Cards The magnetic stripe or bar code contains coded information.  Each code corresponds to a person and serves to identify the person.  When these cards are swiped through a scanning device, the codes are read, the employee is identified and the time is recorded for the punch in/out or a relay is triggered to open/close a door.
